Chronoways map

Each point corresponds to a geolocated chronoway.

Spain is territorially organised into autonomous communities, which are in turn divided into provinces. In the European statistical classification, the autonomous communities correspond to the NUTS-2 level and the provinces to NUTS-3. Altogether, Spain has 17 autonomous communities and 50 provinces.

Within the project, Spain is one of the areas with the highest number of recorded chronoways, with a wide range of commemorations spread across the territory. Broadly shared dates coexist with others of a more local or regional nature.

Among the most widespread commemorations are those linked to 2 May, Labour Day, or Women’s Day. Alongside them, dates specific to various autonomous communities also appear, adding nuance and highlighting the memorial diversity of the whole.
